Another function of our Social Responsibility Fund is to ensure that LVCU is a responsible steward of the world we live in. It is incumbent on each of us, individuals and corporations, to do our part to minimize the impact we have on the environment.
LVCU has initiated a process to measure and reduce their green house emissions. This process follows GHG protocol, which is the most widely used international accounting tool to understand, quantify and manage GHG emissions. Presently, we are in the measuring or quantifying stage of the process.
We have undergone energy audits and instituted a great number of recommendations that will help us better use our resources – from installing solar panels as part of our Tumbler Ridge renovation to increasing our recycling capabilities within our branches.
We will continue to monitor our progress and try at every opportunity to show environmental leadership in all that we do.
